A graveside service for David Bennett Harkey Sr., 85, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, October 27, 2022, at Northwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, 7970 Mike Clark Road, Keithville, Louisiana. Officiating the service will be Caddo Parish Sheriff Office, Chaplain Jerry Kennedy.

David was born November 17, 1936, in Waskom, Texas. He went to be with his Heavenly Father on Monday, October 17, 2022, at the age of 85 and passed away peacefully at home. He was a resident of Blanchard for 24 years.

David’s life achievement was when he joined the Army at the age of 19 and saw many countries and was in many conflicts, one of which was the Koran War. Then he went on to be a boiler maker, a machinist and started his own business repairing wreaked automotives in Shreveport. He decided later that he preferred just building cars and went to work for other shops. This was the profession he did up to retirement age. His faith was Baptist Christian. He was a man that could do anything that he decided to do. He loved going camping, fishing, the outdoors, and gardening vegetable, flower, and trees. He also enjoyed building things.

David is preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Patsy Laverne Harkey; parents, James Andrew Harkey and Mercedes Coldwell Harkey; grandson, Brandon Harkey; little brother, James R Harkey; and infant brother, Michael R. Harkey. He is survived by his three daughters, Theresa Harkey Lusk, Sheri Barton and husband, Larry, and Glenda Harkey Norton; son, David Bennett Harkey, Jr.; grandchildren, Michael Harkey, Shana McCormack, Amy Duncan, April Davis, David Norton, Jared Norton, Breann Harkey, and Ashley Harkey; ten great-grandchildren; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

David and his wife enjoyed going dancing together, and now they are in Heaven dancing together again. They both were loved and going to be missed.
