April 19, 1943 - April 18, 2017
Oleta Drake Tarver, 73 of Mooringsport, Louisiana, passed away on April 18, 2017. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at First Baptist Church, in Vivian, LA officiated by Bro. Randy Brown. Burial will follow at Mooringsport Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Mooringsport, LA. There will be a time of visitation from 6-8 PM on Friday, April 21st at First Baptist Church Vivian.
Oleta was born on April 19, 1943 in Star City, Arkansas, to Morris and Roberta Drake. She was a volunteer for the Mooringsport Fire Department, and in 1986 she became a nationally registered EMT, and she served with Caddo Fire District 7 since 1987. She also worked as a cosmetologist earlier in her life. She loved to go shopping, especially going to rummage sales, garage sales and bargain racks. She loved her family very much, especially her grandkids.
Oleta is preceded in death by her parents, Morris and Roberta Drake, her brother Harry Drake, and her three sisters, Onita DeJarnette, Doris Carter, and Dorothy Sullivan. She is survived by her husband Joseph Ray Tarver Sr. of Mooringsport, LA, her children, Todd Cowan of Mooringsport, LA, Joe Tarver of Douglassville, TX, LeAnn Lacy and husband Tony of Ore City, TX, Walter Tarver of Linden, TX, and Sonya Serena of Vivian, LA, her brother Charles Wayne “Sonny” Drake of Star City, AR, her two sisters Pat Harrison of Star City, AR and Betty Harrison of White Hall, AR. She is also survived by five grandchildren Caleb, Callie, Cara, Collin, and Conner, 13 step grandchildren, 10 step great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Pallbearers will be Tony Jackson, Jim Tom Moore, Bruce Walker, Jacob Alexander, Danny “Goober” Laney, and Lloyd “Putt” Hull. Honorary pallbearers will be Kathy Roy, Vernon Roberts, Peggy Parker and Debbie Fillingim.
The family would like to thank Caddo Fire District 7, Life Air Rescue, the staff at University Health, and North Caddo Medical Center EMS.
