Mooringsport Memorial Gardens (Mooringsport) Cemetery
Caddo County,
Louisiana

October 10, 1934 - January 18, 2021

Dorothy Nell Perkins entered the gates of Heaven on January 18, 2021 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. She was born on October 10, 1934 in Harleton, Texas to parents Horace and Lucille Weaver. She graduated from Cotton Valley High School in Cotton Valley, Louisiana. She spent most of her adult years in Mooringsport, Louisiana.

First and foremost she was a loving and supportive Mother and Grandmother. As a family we would go camping in Arkansas and spent many fun summers on the beaches of Florida. She loved fishing especially at Toledo Bend. She was there to support her children whenever and however needed. She was the wonderful “Mamaw Perk” to her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Perk, as she was lovingly called by friends, had successful careers at Louisiana Bank & Trust and FDIC. In her later years, she enjoyed working as a Bookkeeper for her best friend, Patsy King at the Longwood General Store. She was a self-taught and talented painter. She sold many of her paintings over the years.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Horace and Lucille Weaver; her sisters Billie Finch and Betty Johnson, and her grandson-in-law Dell Pierce.

Mom, Dot, Perk, Mamaw, you will be greatly missed by all of us who remain here on earth. Dorothy leaves to cherish her memories: her four children and spouses: Dianne and Andy Dasch, Debbie and Russell Stroud, Randy and Debbie Perkins, and Ron and Linda Perkins; her best friend Patsy King; her sisters Sue, Jane, and Louise; grandchildren and spouses Sheri Pierce, Doug Stroud, Jeremy and Katie Allen, Dustan and Misty Stroud, Carmelle and Chad Bolding, Terry and Jaylynn Perkins, Tyler Perkins, Amy and Chris Quinlan, Becky and Clay Heath, Missy and Luke Saintignan; 17 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Heritage Manor Stratmore and Lifepath Hospice Care for their services and care, especially Julie from Lifepath who called the family weekly with updates, since family visitation was restricted due to COVID.

Visitation with the family will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2021 from 10 - 11:00 a.m. at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home followed by a graveside service at the Memorial Gardens in Mooringsport, Louisiana
