SHREVEPORT, LA - Services celebrating the life of Martha Virginia Gray McCalman will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, November 14, 2011,at North Highland United Methodist Church. Officiating will beRev. Michael Miller, Sr.. Interment will follow in Mooringsport Memorial
Gardens.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Sunday at Rose-Neath Marshall StreetFuneral Home.
Martha was born November 26, 1947 at Forest, MS and passed away Friday, November 11, 2011. She was an active member of North Highland United Methodist Church. Her heart was in her church. Martha was involved in the Kiros Ministry visiting and ministering to inmates in different prisons.She was also active in the Cursillos Retreat.
She worked as a Medical Transcriptionist for the State of Louisiana. A graduate of Bossier High School, she continued her education and completed her course at Pat Goins Beauty School. Martha was a very talented person,enjoyed decorating, was a seamtress, making all of her daughter's wedding dresses,and dresses for the bridal party. Martha had a gift of making "nothing into something beautiful". She enjoyed cooking for her family and made every holiday special.Martha enjoyed entertaining and was the life of any party. She loved the elderly and they enjoyed her visits. She enjoyed fishing, playing cards, and eating out at some of her favorite restaurants. Her desire was for everyone to be happy.
Martha adored her family and was truly an inspiration to each of them. Thank you God for sharing her with us.
Her parents, Richard and Betty Earles Gray, preceded Martha in death. Beautiful memories will be shared by her husband, Glenn McCalman; sons, Jason McCalman and wife, Brandi, and Alex Stason Pourteau and wife, Vanelys; daughters, Angelina Marie Ishler and husband, Mark, and Keena Lusky; grandchildren, Erica Burford and husband, Josh, Taylor Page, Christian Ishler, Alexandra, Justin, and Tyler Pourteau, Regan, Emily, and Kennedy McCalman, and Cole and Chayce Harville; great grandchild, Faith Marie Burford; and brothers, Richard Gray and wife, Molly and Gerry Lyn Gray.
Honoring Martha, as pallbearers will be Josh Burford, Mark Ishler, Flynn Bankard, Robin Bankard, Kole Harville, Rob Gribble, "Rick" Gray, and Chayce Harville.
Memorials may be made to North Highland United Methodist Church.
