Mae
September 16, 1934 - October 21, 2012
Willie Mae Elizabeth Williams Jones, 78, of Shreveport, La., died Sunday, Oct. 21, 2012, in Highland Village, Texas. Visitation is scheduled from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, October 25, 2012 followed by a vigil service, at Rosé-Neath Southside Funeral Home in Shreveport. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday October 26, 2012 at Saint Mary of the Pines Catholic Church in Shreveport. Entombment will be in Forest Park West in the Mausoleum alongside her late husband, Robert Leon Jones. Mae was born on Sept. 16, 1934, in Winnsboro, La., to George Elmer Williams and Ethel Marie Cowart Williams. She met the love of her life, Bob, in 1952 while he was stationed at Barksdale Air Force Base in Shreveport. They married in May 1954 in Monroe, La., and had three sons, Dewayne, Mitchell, and Michael. Mae was active in Saint Mary of the Pines Catholic Church and had many close friends and neighbors. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters and the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary. Mae fought a valiant fight with dignity and courage. She never lost her kind smile or her sense of humor. She is finally at peace.
There are too many people to mention and thank for helping Mae these last few years since Bob died. Any list would leave important people excluded and acts of kindness unaccounted for. You know, Mae knows, and God knows. Our family extends our most sincere gratitude and thanks. Survivors include her sons, Dewayne Jones and wife Brenda of Edmond, Okla., Mitchell Jones and wife Pat of Naperville, Ill., and Michael Jones and wife Jane of Highland Village, Texas; sisters, Ruby Carpenter, Gloria Brown and husband Sammy, and Shirlyn Brown and husband Mike; grandchildren, Eric and wife Melissa, Ryan and wife Sarah, Matt, Katherine, Stephen, Christopher, and Kira; and great-granddaughter, Abigail. Granny Mae, none of us will ever sip coffee, do a crossword puzzle, or play a game of
solitaire without remembering your kind smile. We love you, and we miss you
