SHREVEPORT, LA - Funeral services celebrating the life of Joanne Cooksey, 54, will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Monday, November 16, 2015 at Rose-Neath Southside Chapel, 2500 Southside Drive, Shreveport. Visitation will be held prior to the service on Monday, from 1:30 p.m. until service time. Interment will follow at Forest Park East Cemetery. Officiating will be Pastor Denny Duron and Dr. Dwayne Bricker. Joanne was born on June 11, 1961 in Warner Robins, GA to Larry and Betty Hortense Lee Garner Burks and passed away from a lengthy illness on November 11, 2015. Joanne was preceded in death by her father, Larry and her step-father, Darryl Garner. Those left to cherish her memory are her mother, Betty; her loving husband of over 25 years, Homer Vernon Cooksey, Jr.; sons, Alex and Corey Cooksey; grandson, Mason Cooksey; sister, Debbie Thuringer, step-sisters, Linda Warman and Debbie Garner, and step- brother, Gary Garner, along with numerous nieces, nephews and extended family, and friends. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Honoring Joanne as pallbearers will be Josh Bozeman, Steven Morrison, Miles McDonald, Eric Burns, Michael Bricker, and Michael Reuter. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials may be made to the American Lung Association, P.O. Box 7262, Hillsborough, NJ 08844.
