Bob E. Raborn, age 89, of Shreveport, LA went to be with his Lord and Savior, Sunday, August 20, 2017 at the Glen Retirement Center. A service celebrating his life will be held Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in the Memorial Chapel at Broadmoor Baptist Church, Shreveport, LA. Interment will follow at Forest Park Cemetery, St. Vincent Avenue. Visitation will precede the service and be held in the Parlor of the church beginning at 1:00 pm. Bob Raborn was born in Waco, TX on January 4, 1928 to Ed and Willie Mae Raborn. After high school Bob attended Baylor University and Texas A&M University before serving in the Army during WWII. After the service, Bob worked selling roofing products in TX, OK and LA. While living in Tyler, TX he met the love of his life, Nancy Jones. They married June 11, 1955. Bob and Nancy were married 56 years having lived in Tyler and Texarkana, TX, and Tulsa, OK before moving to Shreveport, LA in 1966. Bob was an active member of Broadmoor Baptist Church since 1966. He served as a youth Sunday School teacher, greeter, deacon and was a member of the Scott Tatum Sunday School class for many years. After retirement, Bob became an avid golfer playing at Querbes almost daily until he was 87. One of his great loves was supporting his grandchildren and great-grandchildren in their various activities. Bob will be remembered as a loving husband, and for his love and faithfulness to Jesus Christ, his family and friends. Bob was preceded in death by his wife Nancy Raborn, his parents, Ed and Willie Mae Raborn, brothers, Ed Raborn and John Raborn. He is survived by his children, Earl Raborn and wife Bitsy of Shreveport, LA; Ann Fowler and her husband, Randy, of Houston, TX. Bob has six grandchildren, Sarah Desonier married to James Desonier, Braley Raborn married to Keight, Logan Raborn married to Laura, Cody Fowler, Ben Fowler, and Matthew Fowler. Bob is survived by three great-grandchildren, Clara, Dean and Caroline Desonier. Pallbearers will be Braley Raborn, Cody Fowler, Logan Raborn, Ben Fowler, Matthew Fowler and James Desonier. The men of the Tatum Sunday School class will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family of Bob Raborn extends a heartfelt thank you to his many faithful friends and the staff of the Glen Retirement System. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Broadmoor Baptist Church.
