MOORINGSPORT, LA - Phares "Rocky" Rohrbaugh Jr., age 88, passed away Monday, August 22, 2011 at Vivian Healthcare after a lengthy illness. Graveside funeral services will be held at 10 am on Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at Mooringsport Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Mooringsport, LA officiated by Rev. Robbin Haley. There will be a time of visitation on Tuesday, the 23rd from 7-9 pm at Gorsulowsky Funeral Home in Vivian, LA.
Mr. Rohrbaugh was born August 25, 1922 in Canton, Ohio to Phares Sr. and Justine Ferry Rohrbaugh. He moved to this area after World War II and has lived here ever since. He served his country in the US Army in WWII as a platoon sergeant in the European Campaign. He is a current member of the Linda Lay Baptist Church in Gilliam, LA and a former member of the Mooringsport Baptist Church where he served many years as a deacon. Rocky loved to go hunting and he loved working with his hands. He was a very skilled mechanic.
Mr. Rohrbaugh was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years Delores S. Rohrbaugh, 1 brother, 2 sisters and his second wife Naomi Adcock Rohrbaugh. He is survived by his 2 children; Lynn Porter of Mooringsport and David Rohrbaugh and wife Betsy of McLeod, TX, his stepsons, Larry Adcock and Ricky Adcock, his 3 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Leo Dillahunty, Les Dillahunty, Jim Kennedy, Duncan McCall, Chad Giddens and Douglas Rohrbaugh.
The family would like to thank the staff at Vivian Healthcare, Dr. Stephen Taylor and the staff at North Caddo Medical Center and Willis Knighton Hospice for the care they showed to our loved one.
In lieu of flowers donation can be made to Willis Knighton Hospice.
