Larry was born on July 22, 1943, in Washington, D.C., to Alline and the late Lawrence "Earl" Weems.
Surrounded by his family, Larry passed away on November 23, 2010 after a brief illness.
Beloved son, father, and grandfather he is remembered for his faith in God, generosity, friendship and most of all his love of family.
He gave his life to Christ at an early age and served in many capacities at First United Methodist Church of West Monroe, First Baptist of West Monroe and Emmanuel Baptist. He taught his children the value of a close relationship and life devoted to serving Jesus Christ.
Larry was an avid outdoorsman and his favorite times were spent hunting and fishing with his son, grandsons and friends.
He loved coaching children and devoted many years to Dixie Youth Baseball and WOLFBA football. He served on the Board of Dixie Youth Baseball and was extremely excited when their dream of a new complex came to a reality.
Larry served his country as an Air Force Medic in Vietnam. He was the owner of Security Acceptance in Monroe for many years and had a second career as a pipeline supervisor.
Larry was lucky enough to have had two great loves in his life. He was preceeded in death by both his wives, Dorothy "Elaine" Weems and Marcella Crosser Weems. He was also preceeded by his father and friend Lawrence "Earl" Weems and sister Rebecca "Becky" Sue Clark.
Left to cherish his memory are his mother, Mrs. Alline Skains Weems; his children Pam Mitchell and husband Jay, Nicole O'Bryant and husband Billy and Butch Weems and Marcia Weems; his grandchildren Elaina Nicole and Mary Allison Mitchell; Christopher and Sarah Elizabeth O'Bryant and Larry Wayne "Hunter" Weems. Also very loved by "Papaw" are Tracy Booth and husband Jim and their children Whitney, Britney, Jamie and Michael Booth; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friends Danny Ford and Jerri Harris.
Serving as Pallbearers are his very dear friends "Brother" David Ashcraft, David Hall, Dan Ford; second sons Stevie Frost and Damon Wilhite; and his oldest grandson Christopher O'Bryant.
The family requests that memorials be made to St.
Judes Childrens Hospital.
