SHREVEPORT, LA - Services honoring the life of John B. "Jack" Eichler will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 20, 2012, at St. Joseph

Catholic Church. Officiating will be Father Karl Daigle and Father Richard Lombard. Interment will follow in Forest Park West Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m. Thursday at Rose-Neath Marshall Street Chapel. A Rosary will follow at 6:00 p.m. with Father Thomas officiating.

Jack was born October 30, 1930 in Shreveport, LA and passed away Monday, January 16, 2012, at Grace Home. He was a graduate of St. Mary's Grade School, St. John's High School, and received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Northwestern State College in 1953. Jack served his country proudly in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955. He was employed for nine years for Texas Eastern Transmission, five years with Life of Georgia, and retired after 29 years as a faithful civil servant with the Louisiana Department of Labor. Jack received his honorary Fourth Degree with the Knights of Columbus, and was a member of the Elks Club. Jack and his wife, Rosie, spent their retirement years traveling across the world.

His mother, Annie Eichler, preceded Jack in death. Survivors are his loving wife of 54 years, Rosie Fontenot Eichler; son, John B. Eichler, Jr. and wife, Sharon; daughters, Anne Marie Eichler and Kathleen Mitchell; grandchildren, Mallory Dees and husband, Ross, Meredith, Alex, Hannah, and Ian Bancroft, Daniel, Curtis, Ben, and Mary Mitchell; and four great grandchildren.

Honoring Jack, as pallbearers will be Daniel Mitchell, Curtis Mitchell, Ben Mitchell, Alex Bancroft, Ian Bancroft, and Ross Dees. Honorary pallbearers will be Duane Lanoue, Frank Fontenot, and Don Hoskinson.

A special thanks is extended to LifeCare Hospitals, especially Freida, RN, Melissa, RN, and Mattie, CNA, and to the Grace Home for their compassionate and loving care.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church.
