Joyce Ann Sepulvado Ebarb, 61, of Shreveport, LA passed away on Monday, March 8, 2010 in Shreveport. If you had the privilege of knowing Joyce, then you knew what it was to be in the presence of a miracle. Joyce was diagnosed with widespread liver cancer on September 10, 2007. It was that date Joyce began her heroic fight to win…and win she did! It was amazing to watch Joyce fight with such love, grace, and prayer. With a smile on her face, Joyce taught us how to live each day.

Joyce lived each day to the fullest. She was a wife to Curtis (Joe), a mother to Rickey, a grandmother to Alayna, a daughter to Frances and Earl, a sister to Jeff and Tommy, and a loving church member. Joyce was constantly busy in one of her roles…always giving of herself to help family and friends. One could always count on Joyce going that extra mile for a family member. As a church member, she was always ready to serve the church family in any way she could be helpful. Joyce loved her church and was a faithful Office employee for thirteen years. As a church member, she was in the Choir, served as a Eucharistic Minister, was a member of Friends In Faith and Service, holding an office, a member of the Ladies Guild, a Certified Catechist in the Religious Ed Program, and a supporting member of SVdS.

Joyce had a busy life but still taking the time to stop and smell the roses. She loved the beauty of the outdoors which showed in her flowers each season. She spent many hours watering and coaxing to get the best out of her plants. Her personality was somewhat like that. Joyce was very strong, beautiful, courageous, and eventually blossomed into the person she was meant to be. Yet, she always kept the childlike innocence and wonder that made everyday a joy for her family and friends.

Joyce was born January 16, 1949 in Shreveport, La to Frances Martinez Sepulvado and Henry Earl Sepulvado. Later, she married Joseph Curtis Ebarb and they spent 43 devoted years together.

She is survived by her husband, Joseph Curtis Ebarb; a son, Richard Neal (Rick) Ebarb; a granddaughter, Alayna DeeAnn Ebarb, the joy of her life; parents, Frances Adcock and Earl Sepulvado; brothers, Thomas Earl (Sally) and Jeffery Lynn Sepulvado (Evelyn); and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

In life as in death, Joyce always knew how to do everything just right. With the presence of the Holy Spirit, and family and friends surrounding her bedside, they experienced an awesome moment at the time of her departure. The love, peace, and holiness felt at that moment is something that will always be remembered by those who loved her and shared in her glorious crossing. Joyce, we will miss you!
