Dale G. Nix Jr., 65 of Mooringsport, LA passed away on Friday, May 8, 2015. Funeral Services will be held at 4:30 pm on Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at Mooringsport Elementary Gym, 602 Latimer St., officiated by Rev. Randy Brown of Lufkin, TX. Interment will follow at Mooringsport Memorial Gardens Cemetery. There will be a time of visitation from 6-8 pm on Tuesday the 12th at Gorsulowsky Funeral Home in Vivian, LA.
Dale was born on April 29, 1950 in Shreveport, LA. He was preceded in death by his mother, Billie Jean Nix and his sister, Janet Sue Nix. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Walsh Nix and his father Dale G. Nix Sr., both of Mooringsport, LA. He graduated from North Caddo High School in 1968 and attended Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, LA. Dale served as Police Chief of Mooringsport from 1971-1973. He resigned to become Deputy Sheriff for Caddo Parish from 1973-1981. Dale founded, owned, and operated DOC, Inc., an oil well service company. Dale served his community as its Chief of Police from 2003-2015. He also belonged to the Rotary Club in Oil City, LA.
Honoring him as pallbearers will be John McKellar, Dane Dunagin, Mark Woolridge, Joel Griffin, Bobby Harrison, Jerry Allen, Billy Bridges, Dr. Robert McMillan, and Paul Brownlee. Honorary pallbearers will be all the DOC employees.
Dale's family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks for all the love and support they have received from friends in the North Caddo area including the DOC family, the Sheriff's department, and the Mooringsport Community. Special thanks to Dr. Robert McMillan and staff of Willis Knighton Regional Transplant center; Dr. Anil Veluvola and staff of Willis Knighton Cancer Treatment Center, and nurses and staff of the Willis Knighton Chemo Therapy Unit.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Old Mooringsport Cemetery Committee, P.O. Box 252 Mooringsport, LA 71060.
