From Louisiana Archives ~ Courtney, Eli (also Coartney, Eli), Peivate Sergeant. Company B 9th Battalion Louisiana Infantry. Enlisted May 15, 1862, Camp Moore, Louisiana. Present on Roll for September & October, 1862. Paroled at Port Hudson, Louisiana, July 10, 1863. Captured at Woodville, Mississippi, October 5, 1864. Received at Camp Douglas, Illinois, November 3, 1864, from Vicksburg, Mississippi, through Cairo, Illinois. Discharged on taking Oath of Allegiance to United States Government, June 17, 1865. Residence Livingston Parish, Louisiana. Complexion dark, hair brown, eyes brown, height 6 ft.
