SHREVEPORT, LA- Services celebrating the life of Mavis Margaret Malloy Anderson, 80, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at Rose-Neath Southside Chapel. Officiating will be Dr. Chad Hardbarger, Pastor of Emmanuel Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Forest Park West Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 14, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Anderson was born May 20, 1932 in Athens, Louisiana. After college, she made her home in Shreveport. She passed away Friday, May 10, 2013 after a brief battle with cancer.
Mrs. Anderson graduated Cum Laude from Louisiana Polytechnic Institute in Ruston, Louisiana where she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration and spent most of her career as an Accountant in the Oil & Gas industry. She was a member of Athens Baptist Church, Athens, Louisiana. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Joe Anderson, her parents, William C. Malloy and Lillie Edwards Malloy, her sister, Dimple Malloy Volentine, beloved niece Beverly Zan Baker, and special nephew, William L. "Billy" Brewer.
Left to cherish her precious memory are her daughters Keri Anderson Beam and husband Charles, and Christy Anderson Brashear, all of Shreveport, Louisiana, son Monty Anderson and wife Stephanie of Maumelle, Arkansas; five granddaughters, Laura Beam Johnson and husband Jerame, Dana Beam Johnson and husband Greg, all of Keithville, Louisiana, Amber Brashear O'Leary and husband Ian of Marrero, Louisiana, Jennifer Anderson and Melissa Anderson of Maumelle, Arkansas; two great-granddaughters, Avery Johnson and Anna Johnson of Keithville, Louisiana and another great-grandbaby on the way. She is also survived by two loving sisters, Beatrice Malloy Girlinghouse of Ruston, Louisiana, and Mildred Malloy Baker and husband Zane of Houston, Texas; and many dear nieces and nephews.
Honoring Mrs. Anderson as pallbearers are Jerame Johnson, Greg Johnson, Ian O'Leary, Bruce Langford, David Christian, and Bill Huntsinger. Serving as Honorary Pallbearer will be Mike Riordan.
The family would like to thank the Third Floor Medical Staff of Christus Schumpert Highland Medical Center, with special gratitude to Dr. Stephen Maxwell and Sister Suny. The family would also like to acknowledge, with sincerest appreciation, the comfort and loving care our Mom received from the dedicated Nurses, CNAs, and Staff of Grace Home.
