SHREVEPORT, LA- Juanita Pauline "Polly" McBride Cordaro, 89, passed away on August 3, 2012. Funeral services for Mrs. Cordaro will be held 10 am Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, Southside Chapel. Officiating will be Father Charles Glorioso. Entombment will follow at Forest Park Cemetery on St. Vincent. The family will receive friends Tuesday, August 7, 2012 from 5pm to 7pm at Rose-Neath Southside.
Mrs. Cordaro was born on February 18, 1923 in Shreveport, Louisiana to Jefferson Pruitt McBride, Sr. and Sarah Simmons McBride. She was a lifelong resident of Shreveport. She and her husband, Dominic John Cordaro, owned and operated The Liquor Mart, Inc. for over 50 years.
Polly was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church and involved in the school community. She supported all of her children's activities, sports and interests. She will be remembered for her quiet kindness. She was a patient listener, always laughing and showing interest even when hearing the same stories numerous times. She was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Polly was never one to complain, she showed a positive and loving influence on everyone she met.
Polly was preceded in death by her parents, Jefferson and Sarah McBride and her son Russell David Cordaro; her brother, William McBride and sisters, Mary Lou Arnold and Eunice Mae Cardone. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Dominic John, "Johnny" Cordaro, her children Rosalind Cordaro Clement and husband, C.J. of LaPlace, LA, Sally Cordaro Lippe and husband, George of Tulsa, OK, Patricia Cordaro Goudeau and husband, James of Shreveport, LA, Gregory James Cordaro and wife, Mandy of Baton Rouge, LA, Paul Dominic Cordaro, of Shreveport, LA and Marilyn Cordaro Everett and husband, Peter of Acworth, GA. She is survived by her siblings, Emma Maude Latsos and Jefferson Pruitt McBride, Jr. She was a loving grandmother to Jeffrey, Jonathan, Kira, Mary Clement and Kristen Clement Trosclair, John Russell and Madeline Lippe, Grayson, Renee, and Celeste Goudeau, Nick and Caroline Cordaro, Ian and Catherine Everett, 5 great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Honoring Polly as pallbearers will be her grandsons.
Polly's family suggests that memorials be made in her honor to Providence House of Shreveport, 814 Cotton Street, 71101, St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105-1942 or a charity of the donor's choice.
