Sarah Elizabeth Warren Henley, 84, was born October 12, 1929, in Laurel, Mississippi, to Rev. David Franklin and Mary King Warren, and entered into her eternal life on April 12, 2014, at The Glen. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Jeanne Warren Netherton and Sue Warren Launius; one brother, Rev. Frank Warren, Jr.; and one niece, Nelda Launius Foster. Sarah lived most of her life in Shreveport.

Sarah leaves behind her loving husband of 56 years, George Henley; her sister Barbara Warren Sutton and husband Jack; nieces Missy Netherton Burnell and husband Billy, Jan Launius, Amanda Sutton Ryan and husband Brint, Jeannie Warren Theo and husband Naki, Lorie Warren Zamarano and husband Coalo; nephews Ken Launius, Buster Netherton and wife Sharon, Wally Netherton and wife Becky, Jay Sutton and wife Anne; sisters-in-law Wanda Henley Poche and husband Jack, and Nola Warren; and a host of great nieces and nephews.

She graduated from Fair Park High School and attended The University of Southern Mississippi, Centenary College, and was a graduate of International Bible College in San Antonio, Tx, where she received ministerial credentials. Sarah was a Certified Administrative Professional and a Notary Public in Caddo Parish, LA. Her career spanned 50 years. She began as a dental assistant, but found her expertise in accounting. She was employed for many years at Netherton Co., Inc. as office manager and often piloted the company plane. She also worked as office manager for Sutton's Truck Parts & Equipment, Trinity Oil Company and Bob Jones & Associates. Sarah was a former distributor for Hilcoa and Hillestad dietary supplements. She previously owned and operated Natural House, a nutritional store, which was more a ministry than a business. It was her joy to provide products to many who could not afford them. After retirement, Sarah volunteered her services to several local churches, Jacob's Well Coffeehouse Ministry and New Life Montessori School.

A dedicated and devout Christian, Sarah also was a gifted Bible teacher and inspirational speaker. She taught Sunday School at Life Tabernacle for many years and led many home Bible studies. She was a former member of Women's Aglow International, an interdenominational organization of Christian women. She served as state Treasurer and as President of the North LA Area Board. Sarah spoke often at chapter meetings and at regional retreats.

One of Sarah's interests which she shared with George was aviation. She held a commercial pilot's license and was a former member of the Ninety-Nines, an international organization of women pilots. One of the highlights of her life was flying the 1971 25th Jubilee Powder Puff Derby, an all-woman intercontinental air race. The 2,442 mile course originated in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, and terminated in Baton Rouge, LA.

Sarah generously reached out to help many throughout her life. She and George opened their hearts and home to many young people. She was a mentor, counselor and encourager, always doing so with wisdom, dignity and that beautiful smile. Sarah was a wonderful wife, sister and aunt. Her kindness and loveliness will be dearly missed by family and friends.

A celebration of life service will be held at Open Range Fellowship, 9950 Hwy. 80, Greenwood, LA, on Good Friday, April 18, 2014, at 11:30 a.m., officiated by Pastor Dennis Aaron and Rev. Mel Campbell. Memorial contributions can be made to the charity of donor's choice.
