Virginia was born in Shreveport, LA and passed away Tuesday, February 7, 2012, at her residence. She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church.

She began her career with Shreveport City Court in August of 1970 and was appointed Clerk of Court in August of 1973. By 1983 Virginia had assumed the duties of Court/Judicial Administrator serving for over 40 years. Her honesty, integrity, and strong work initiative were an inspiration to her employees. Virginia was proud of her clerks and made certain each of them had the advantage of the most current training needed to run an efficient office.

In 1999, Virginia was instrumental in the major task of moving the offices of the court from the old police garage to the new city courthouse building, negotiating with the city council for additional funding. Virginia took her job so seriously that to protect the public's money, she regularly donned her hard hat to inspect the progress.

Virginia took pride in serving as president of Louisiana City Court Clerk's Association; president of the Louisiana City Court Administrator's Association; was recognized in 1992/1993 as a Platinum Member in Who's Who Worldwide; and in 2011 was recognized as an outstanding female leader by the Women Motivating Women Conference.

Her husband, Leland Dale Hester, parents, Tony and Lucille San Angelo Maniscalco, and brothers, Tony and Joseph Maniscalco, preceded Virginia in death. Beautiful memories will be shared by her sisters-in-law, Frances Maniscalco, Joyce McGrath and husband, Ed, and Linda Ingram; nephew, Joseph "Joby' Maniscalco and wife, Patti; nieces, Frances Youngblood and husband, Revis, Sandra McLaughlin and husband, Mack, Suzie Linder and husband, Jack, and Ginger Maniscalco; special cousin and friend, Lynn Arivett and husband, Jack; and numerous great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.

Honoring Virginia, as pallbearers will be John Johns, Carl Richard, Bill Whiteside, Walter "Doug" White, Tom Thompson, and Craig Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be Shreveport City Court Judges: Judge Charles W. "Bill" Kelly, Judge R. Lee Irvin, Judge Pammela Lattier, Judge Sheva Sims, Judge Dan Sawyer, and Bossier City Court Judge Thomas A. Wilson.

The family extends their gratitude to Dr. Michael Moore and Rita, Dr. Lane Rosen, Dr. Destin Black, and Dr. Frederick White for the professional and loving care shown to Virginia.

Memorials may be made to Holy Trinity Catholic Church Restoration Fund, 315 Marshall Street, Shreveport, LA 71101 or to the charity of the donor's choice.
