Mausoleum
Virginia Ann Wells Young passed away at Colonial Oaks Senior Care Center while recovering from surgery surrounded by her family. She was born in South Gate, CA February 16, 1933 to Ernest and Ethel Wells. She graduated from Compton High School in Compton, CA where she met her husband William (Bill) Young. They were married in Lynwood, CA April 11, 1953. Virginia and Bill were married for 66 years.
Virginia was a true Air Force wife and followed him on each assignment (not Viet Nam) until they settled in Bossier City after his retirement. She was active with the Officers Wives Club and the Ladies golf group while Bill was stationed at Barksdale AFB. She was a charter member of Fellowship Methodist Church and was active until her health no longer allowed her to attend.
She was an avid quilter and belonged to the Red River Quilters Group in Shreveport. She was active with a small group of quilting Ladies that were referred to as the Noisy Broads at their monthly lunch of Show and Tell.
Virginia worked as the Assistant Director of the Small Business Development office at LSUS where she received her Bachelor Degree.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Ethel Wells and brother, Robert Wells.
She is survived by her husband, Lt Col (Ret) Bill Young; daughter, Kathleen and husband Richard Allison; sons, David and his wife Patti Young and John and his wife Tracy Young; grandchildren, Jenifer Guerrero, Ricky Allison, Jason Young and Michael Young, Emily Feazel and Claire Brewer. She had seven great-grandchildren which were the joy of her life: Preston, Sawyer, William, Calvin, Callum, Ella, Virginia Louise.
A memorial service will be held at Boone Funeral Home-Bossier City, 10:00 AM, Friday, November 2, 2018. Officiating will be Rev. Ken Norton.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Bossier City Lions Club Scholarship Fund.
