CARENCRO - Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 23, 2012 at an 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in Carencro for Calvin Hanks, age 78, who passed away Thursday, June 21, 2012 at Opelousas General Health System in Opelousas.

Interment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Lafayette. The Rev. Mark Ledoux, pastor of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in Carencro, will officiate at the services.

Mr. Hanks was a native of Cankton and a resident of Vatican. He enjoyed fishing with his brothers, watching football and spending time with his family, particularly his grandchildren.

Survivors include one step son, David Kindred and his wife, Kathy, of Carencro; one daughter, Michelle Renee Rozas and her husband, Al Rozas, III, of Ville Platte; two step daughters, Brenda Boudreaux of Youngsville and Diana Case of Humble, TX; seventeen grandchildren; six great grandchildren; two brothers, William Hanks and his wife, Elodie, of Duson, Emery Hanks and his wife, Goldie, of Lake Charles; three sisters, Theresa H. Myers, Betty H. Thibodeaux, both of Lafayette and Eva Delle Guzman of Youngsville; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives he loved dearly.

He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Florine June Broome; his parents, Michel Hanks and the former Louise Miller, both natives of Cankton; one brother, Louis Hanks; two sisters, Lilly Brasseaux and Helen Doucet; and three step sons in law, Larry "Geech" Guidroz, Randy Boudreaux and Mike Case.

A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. on Friday in the funeral home.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 1:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. Friday and will continue from 8:00 a.m. until service time on Saturday.

Pallbearers will be Nicholas Kindred, Mathew David Kindred, Benjamin Boudreaux, Mickey Thibodeaux, Michael Andrew Case and Daniel Hanks. Honorary pallbearers will be Brandon Guidroz and Brandon Walley.
