Shirley, who resided in Lafayette, was born to the late Adam and Amanda Rousselle on April 7, 1928 in Taft, LA. She was a volunteer at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital for 27 years, bringing her beautiful smile and compassion to all she encountered. She enjoyed sewing, reading, being with her rosary group and most of all the loving time she spent with family. She knew no strangers, as we lovingly called her "our social butterfly".

Shirley is survived by her beloved husband of more than 66 years, Edwin Gaudin, Sr. of Lafayette, having married on October 25, 1947 in Norco, LA. She has four children, Deacon Gary Gaudin and his wife Linda of Eunice, Cheryl Gaudin, Edwin Gaudin, Jr. and Pam Breaux, all of Carencro. She has eight grandchildren, Tamara Reeves, Yvette Niesel and husband Jim, Stephen Gaudin and wife Natalie, Joseph Whitmore III and significant other Irene, Candyce Cina and husband Mark, Michelle Hayman and husband Kevin, Jeremy Breaux and wife Vickie, and Tanya Trahan and husband Michael. She adored her twelve great grandchildren, Taylor, Gabrielle, Victoria, Lauren, Abigail, McKenzie, Kyle, Madison, Cecelia, Aiden, Zachary and Cade. She is also survived by her sister, Loretta Simon.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Adam and Amanda Champagne Rousselle; a brother, Charles Rousselle; a sister, Vera Haydel and a step-granddaughter, Yvonne Geerts.

Bringing Shirley to her eternal resting place will be Deacon Gary Gaudin, Edwin Gaudin, Jr., Jeremy Breaux, Joseph Whitmore III, Stephen Gaudin and Michael Trahan. Honorary pallbearers are Mark Cina, Jim Niesel, and Kevin Hayman.

No time on earth is long enough to share with those who have touched our hearts so deeply or to prepare our hearts for our lives without them. May time soften the pain of our loss until all that remains is the comfort in remembering our love for her and the beautiful smile she always wore.
