LAFAYETTE - Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, April 14, 2015, at a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial in St. Jules Catholic Church in Lafayette, for Barbara Hanks Mier, 77, who passed away on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at Lafayette General Medical Center.
Burial will take place in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
Barbara grew up near Duson, graduated from Rayne High School, and spent most of her adult life living in Lafayette. She was a retired court reporter. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with family and close friends. All who knew her will remember her as being kindhearted, generous and very loving.
She is survived by her five children, Angela Mier, Stephanie LeBlanc and her husband Gary, Greg Mier and his wife Nadine, Suzanne Mier, and Pamela Mier Boyle; four siblings, Sylvia Johnson, Patrick Hanks, Maxine Hanks and Debbie Hanks; eleven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and her dear friend, Dee Cormier.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Oday Pierre and Agatha Chaisson Hanks.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed on Monday, April 13, 2015 in Delhomme Funeral Home on Bertrand from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM. A Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 PM on Monday evening in the funeral home. Visiting hours will continue on Tuesday from 8:00 AM until the time of service.
Pallbearers will be Patrick Hanks, Greg Mier, Freeman Mier, Taylor Boyle, Matthew Boyle and Gary LeBlanc.
Memorial contributions can be made in Ms. Mier's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
