(December 27, 1943 - November 4, 2015) Rudy Quinten Jones of Bristol, Florida, 71, died peacefully on Wenesday, November 4, 2015 at Regional Medical Center of Acadiana, Lafayette, Louisiana after finally succumbing to Parkinsons disease. A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Louisiana Funeral Services & Crematory, 108 Hardware Road, Broussard, Louisiana with a visitation for family beginning at 11:00 AM. Brother Mike Madden and Dennis May will be officiating. An additional memorial service will be held at a later date to be announced in Stratford, Oklahoma. Survivors include his three children, Rudy Quinten Jones, II of Reno, Nevada; Velvet Kay Coffey of Fort Worth, Texas; and Marly Ray of Ft. Worth, Texas and five step-children, Kim Johnson, Juanita Webb; Robert Kyle (Angel); David Kyle (Janet); Rick Kyle; Lorrie Hargrove (Jamie), all of Bristol, Florida; brother, Charles Jones of Vanoss, Oklahoma; sister, Arlene Bowen (
Ken) of Lafayette, Louisiana; 13 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 25 years Betty June; his parents Eules Jones and Susie Jones; and his younger brother, Joe. Rudy was born in Ada, Oklahoma in1943 and recently resided with his sister Arlene in Lafayette, Louisiana who along with her husband cared for him through the advanced stages of Parkinsons. He previously resided in Bristol, Florida. Rudy is best known for his musical talents and contributions to the country and blue grass music industry with his custom built resophonic guitars. He became a legend in the 1970s and 80s for making some of the best walnut body dobros ever, two of which now reside in the Country Music Hall of Fame.
