Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 9, 2013, at 1:00 PM in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille in Lafayette, for Lena V Bergeron, 91, who died Friday, March 8, 2013 at Magnolia Estates Nursing Home in Lafayette. Interment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Deacon Kenneth Arnaud of St Francis Regis Church in Arnaudville, will conduct the funeral services.

Survivors include daughter Dolores Simon; sons Chester Miller and wife Diane, Austin Hebert and wife Sue and Lee Venable and wife Stephanie; one step-son Robert Venable and wife Mary; grand children Hershel Miller, Angela Fields, Jason Simon, Chad Hebert, Douglas Hebert, Justin Venable, Erica Venable, Robbie Venable and Mark Venable; nine great grandchildren; and sisters Joyce Mire and Mary Robin and husband Odel.

She was preceded in death by son, Steven Lee Miller; parents Jerome and Marie Trahan Bergeron; step-son, Rodney Venable; the fathers of her children, Sylvester Miller and David Venable; brothers, Elton Bergeron, Wilson Bergeron, Harris Bergeron, Andrus Bergeron, Nelson Bergeron, Jerome Bergeron, Jr, Joe Bergeron, Howard Bergeron and George Bergeron; and sister, Dorothy Bergeron.

A native of Scott and a resident of Lafayette for most of her life, Lena Bergeron, was retired from the Lafayette Parish School Board as a cafeteria worker. She had a joy for life, loved dancing and spending time with family and friends, especially cooking. She was famous for cooking her "little, skinny chickens". Lena Bergeron will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Pallbearers will be Justin Venable, Douglas Hebert, Matthew Fields, John Mire, Robert Trahan and Darrel Robin.

Visitation was observed in Martin & Castille's DOWNTOWN Lafayette location on Friday, March 8, 2013 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and will continue today, Saturday, from 8:00 AM to the time of service. A Rosary was prayed on Friday at 7:00 PM in Martin & Castille Funeral Home.

The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, staff and caregivers at Magnolia Nursing Home and Hospice of Acadiana, for their compassionate care. Special thanks to Kevin Naquin and friends for playing Lena's favorite French songs for her to dance into heaven.
