Mrs. Edna May Ballard, 65, of 820 W. First St., died in a local hospital at 5:15 p.m. Thursday. She was born in Corsicana, Tex., Nov. 5, 1898 the daughter of R. L. and Anna Maude Perry Smith. She has lived in El Dorado for the past 34 years, and was a member of the First Methodist Church. Survivors include her husband, Edward T. Ballard of El Dorado; two sisters, Mrs. J.D. Brown of Lavon, Tex. and Mrs. Berah Hebbe of Long Beach, Calif.; three brothers, Frank Smith and Aubra Smith, both of Fort Worth, Tex.; and Perry Smith of Salt Lake City, Utah. Funeral services had been scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday at Young's Chapel with Dr. C. Ray Hozendorf officiating assisted by Dr. Don Harbuck. Burial will follow in the Downsville Cemetery at Downsville, La., with graveside services at 2 p.m. under the direction of Young's. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Jack Sheppard, Dr. Grady Hill, W. H. Mahan, and all members of the 25 year club. (The El Dorado Times - May 8, 1964)
