May 3, 1934 - June 17, 2015
Emma Buck Lee, 81 of Fayetteville, passed away June 17, 2015. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Marion Lee. She is survived by her children, Marene Martin and J. Philip Lee; her son-in-law, Clay Martin; and grandchildren Meredith and Trey.
Born and raised in Shreveport, Louisiana, Emma graduated from Byrd High School in 1952 and then went on to attend Florida State University and graduate with a degree in Library Science Education in 1956. From there she moved to Atlanta and worked for the Atlanta Public Library from 1956-58, married James in 1958, and worked for Fulton County Schools for the remainder of her career which ended in 1988. While there she impacted numerous students as the head librarian of M. D. Collins High School from its creation until the 1980s.
She leaves behind a community of love from McDonough Road Baptist Church and numerous friends and family throughout the area. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 19, 2015 at McDonough Road Baptist Church, 352 McDonough Road, Fayetteville, GA 30214. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 PM on Thursday evening at Mowell Funeral Home, 180 N. Jeff Davis Drive, Fayetteville, GA. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to McDonough Road Baptist Church using the above address.
