Breaux Bridge - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am, on Saturday, May 24, 2014, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge, for Thelma S. Thibodeaux, 82.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 7:30 am until 10:30 am on Saturday, at Pellerin Funeral Home in Breaux Bridge. A rosary will be prayed at 9 am on Saturday.
Fr. Joseph Campion will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Scriptures will be read by Tiffany Pete Mouton and Kevin Thibodeaux. The Responsorial Psalm will be read by Ramzy Noel. Interment will follow at St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery in Breaux Bridge.
Thelma S. Thibodeaux was born on October 11, 1931, in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana, the middle of seven children to Victor and Lorina Sylvester Soularie and went to be with the Lord on May 19, 2014. She attended Vocational Technical for sewing in St. Martin Parish and worked at Gaidrys as a seamstress for 26 years in Lafayette Parish. She was known to many for her talent in reworking garments with precision and patience; using skill and love, relying on needle, thimble and thread to rejoin cloth fragments making garments whole again .. giving them new life. Thelma was a member of the Breaux Bridge Auxiliary Police for 6 years and a volunteer at her church.
She leaves to cherish her memories: son, Courtney Thibodeaux; daughter, Lorena Pete; daughter-in-law, Rose Thibodeaux; two brothers, Wilbert Soularie, Sr. and Cloussy Soularie, Sr. and sister, Clarisse Noel. She is also survived by six grandchildren: Kevin Thibodeaux, Keenan Pete, Melanie Thibodeaux Bibb, Trillis Pete, Kenneth Thibodeaux and Tiffany Pete Mouton; seven great grandchildren: Dayshon Pete, Casey Jace Mouton, Saige Pete, Madison Bibb, Alasia Pete, Brianna Pete and Grant Bibb and two godchildren: Robert Noel and Michelle Noel, as well as a host of relatives and friends. Preceding Thelma in her death were her parents, Victor Soularie and Lorina Sylvester Soularie; and three brothers, Henry Soularie, Sr., Wilfred Soularie and Everiste Soularie.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Thibodeaux, Keenan Pete, Trillis Pete, Kenneth Thibodeaux, Christopher Bibb, and Casey James Mouton.
Honorary pallbearers will be Gilbert Noel, Raymond Noel, Ramzy Noel, Wilbert Soularie, Jr., Ricky Soularie, and Ivory Stagg, Jr.
