Lafayette – Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 8, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church for Lovie Marie Howard.
Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Lovie Marie Howard was born August 26, 1955, in Lafayette, LA to the union of Rose and Dalton Howard. She was called home on December 28, 2021.
Lovie will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her. She was a loving daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was a member of the Ebony Sistas Biker Club and went by the name Ms. Ebony Love. She retired from the Lafayette Parish School Board as a custodian and worked part-time as a Foster Grandparent at Truman Daycare. She loved to shop, enjoyed music, and clubbing, especially her Super Saturday. She loved all her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, family, and friends. She was a fighter until the end.
Lovie is survived by her children, Sharonda King (Wayne), LaShonda Charles (Joseph), Ronald Griffin Jr., Donald Ray Griffin (Marica) and Donna Faye (Gerard) Greene; grandchildren, Niasha, Dontrez, DaQuaylon, Treylon, Jaylon, DreShawn, Frederick IV, Kai, Rontaven, Donvontez, Jaylee, J’Laya, Heavenly; great grandchildren, Dacyion and A’myra; one sister, Betty Joseph; one brother, Dalton Howard (Emma); one sister-in-law, Ella Howard; one aunt, Margaret Arceneaux; ex-husband, Ronald Griffin Sr.; her close friends, Martha Joseph, Debra Mitchell, Brenda Christian, and Evonna Provost; and a host of loving nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Rose and Dalton Howard; brother, John Raymond Howard; sister, Mary Howard; nephew, Damon Joseph; aunts, Adele Gotch, Ella Brooks, Enola Phillips; uncles, John, Raymond, and Wilbert Phillips.
