Lafayette - Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 1, 2012 at 1100 a.m. at Gethsemane Church of God in Christ for Mary Ethel Andrus, 80, who passed away peacefully on August 20, 2012.

Services will be conducted by Bishop Roy L.H. Winbush.

Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery.

She leaves to cherish her memories her children: Joseph Melvin Gobert, Alfred James Gobert, Sr., Ruby Gobert-Nash, Roy Gobert, Jr., Robin Andrus (Patrick) and John Andrus (Iris), all of Lafayette, Louisiana, Beeanna Gobert Swain of Landover, Maryland, Lawrence Gobert (Alicia of Washington, DC, and Elizabeth Flugence (Dalton) of Houston, Texas; her siblings: Alan Castile (Maryann), and Leonce Castile (Linda), Frances Ann Singleton (Dwight), Sandra Castile, Alice Mable Castile, all of Lafayette, Louisiana, Linda Poydras of Houston, Texas; her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Karen Robinson Gobert; her in-laws, Mr. & Mrs. Henry (Beatrice) Thomas, Oradell Thomas and Marion Thomas and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She is the grandmother of 28 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonce Andrus and Rev. & Mrs. Robert (Lena-Beanna) Mills; maternal grandparents, Clofar William and Athelia Prejean; her paternal grandparents, Alec Andrus and Eva Francis; maternal great-grandparents, Francois Prejean and Elizabeth Comeaux; her daughter, Diane G. Thomas; great- grand-daughter, Anna-Marie Cormier; God-father and uncle, Joseph William; her sisters, Lena Andrus, Vivian Gunn, Mary Jean Jones, Lucille Castile, Shirley Williams; step-sister, Helen Mills Jackson and her step-brothers, Chester Mills and Robert Mills, Jr.; her ex-husband, Roy Gobert, Sr.; and her lifelong companion, Ellis Thomas.
