Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 7, 2015, 11:00 AM at St Anthony Catholic Church located at 615 Edison Street, Lafayette, Louisiana for Mrs Mercedes Broussard Pillette. A Rosary will precede the service at 9:00 AM. She will be laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery. Father Lambert A Lein will officiate. A native of Lafayette, Mrs Pillette passed away October 31, 2015 at Evangeline Oaks Nursing Home in Carencro, Louisiana . Her memories will be cherished by her husband Russell J Pillette, Sr; sons Byron (Ceta) Pillette, Ken (Cleo) Pillette, Marc (Kasha) Pillette, and Russell J Pillette, Jr, all of Lafayette. She will also be missed by sisters Doris Paddio, Merline (Joe) Robertson, and Verna (Roy) Cormier; Seven grandchildren, Kelsha, Da'Marcus, Kelicia, Megan, Morgan, Kae'Mon and Amber all of Lafayette; a god-child, Curtlin Cormier of Alexandria Louisiana ; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, & friends. Mercedes was preceded in death by parents Clesmay and Beulah Tolliver Broussard; and brother Preston Broussard. Her body will lie in state on Saturday, November 7, 2015 from 7:00 AM until 10:00 AM at Kinchen Funeral Home. She will then be taken to St. Anthony Catholic Church for service beginning at 11:00 AM. Active pallbearers will be Curtis Cormier, Kendall Provost, Randy Paddio, Nathan Broussard, Da'Marcus Bernard, and Travis Celestine. Honorary Pallbearers will be Byron Pillette, Marc Pillette, Ken Pillette, Joe Robertson, Roy Cormier, Rawleigh Bruno, and Terry Benjamin. The family wishes to give special thanks to Dr Bryan LeBean, Queen Babineaux, Tara Baudoin, Dr Agostino Ingraldi, Evangeline Oaks Nursing Home, Hospice of Acadiana, Dr Corwin Thomas, and Kendel Cobb for all you have done for our Mother & Grandmother.
