Gloria was born June 18, 1941 in Monroe, LA to parents L.F. and Francis Cummings, Sr and passed from this life to life eternal with her Lord on Thursday, January 31, 2013, at her home following a brief illness. Her early life was spent mostly in the Monroe area. After she married, her husband's military service, and secular work took them to several different states and communities. Then, in 1970, she and her husband, Bill, who has been senior pastor at Yeager Methodist Protestant Church for the past 27 years, moved back to West Monroe. She and her husband have faithfully ministered for the Lord, together, for their 50 plus years of marriage. Gloria basically had two enjoyments of life, working with her husband in all aspects of the Church, and enjoying her children, grandchildren and her one great grandchild who she kept during the day, for the first three years of Averi's life, until Gloria was diagnosed with acute leukemia in December 2012. She lived a simple life of trust and faith in her Savior, and her quiet witness of His saving faith, was an inspiration to many around her, to her personal family, and her Church family. She was the "Mother and Grandmother" to so many who loved her and wanted to be like "Miss Gloria". Her work in the Lord started when she was 13 years old teaching children at Stone Avenue Methodist Church, now the Ronald McDonald House. She never stopped until her illness prevented her activity, but her witness and love kept teaching even through her illness. Now, the influence she left will continue the work she started.

She was preceded in death by her parents, L.F. and Francis Cummings, Sr.; one brother, L.F. Cummings, Jr., and two sisters, Lorraine Smith and Evelyn Russ.

She is survived by her husband, Rev. Bill M. Hearne; son, Billy Hearne, Jr.; one daughter, Lauren Flemmons and husband, Jimmy of Lovington, NM; grandchildren, Amanda Whatley and husband, Adam, and Dylan Elliott; great grandchild, Averi Whatley; numerous nieces and nephews, and other family members, including a very special Aunt, Yvonne Braley.

Pallbearers will be her nephews, Gerald Cummings, Dale Cummings, Lynn Riley, Reggie Smith, Robbie Russ, Gary Russ, and Ken Carr.

Honorary pallbearers will be her great nephews, Jordan Carter and Joshua Russ.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Saturday, February, 2, 2013 at Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe, LA.

Memorials may be made to Yeager Methodist Protestant Church, the Gideons, your favorite charity, or simply in flowers, which she loved.
