Ramona Burk Ashbrook, 68, of West Monroe, passed away on Tuesday, October 20, 2015, after a long courageous battle with cancer. The home-going celebration for Ramona will be held at 10:00 A.M., on Saturday, October 24, 2015, at First Assembly of God (The Assembly) West Monroe. Pastor Shane Warren, Pastor John Skipworth, and Pastor John Burk will be officiating. Interment will be at Hasley Cemetery in West Monroe under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home. Visitation will be on Friday, October 23, 2015, at The Assembly West Monroe from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Ramona was born in Wewoka, Oklahoma, on December 26, 1946. She graduated with an Associate of Arts Degree from Southwestern Assemblies of God University in Waxahachie, Texas, where she met her husband John Ashbrook. Ramona retired from Monroe City School Board Media Center after 33 years of dedicated service. She has served as the assistant to Senior Pastor Shane Warren at The Assembly West Monroe for the past 12 years.Ramona was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grammie, sister, and friend who always put others before herself. She especially enjoyed spending time with her two grandchildren and entertaining at Camp Tyrolley on Lake Claiborne with her husband, family, and friends. She never gave up. She fought the good fight. She kept the faith. She never complained. She was preceded in death by her father Reverend Alford Burk. She is survived by her loving husband John Ashbrook of 48 years; son Clay Ashbrook and wife Tiffany; daughter Michelle Ashbrook Burnett and husband Destin; grandchildren Kaydee Mae Burnett and Caden Harrison Ashbrook; mother Juanita Burk; sister Linda Crews and husband Fred; brother John Burk and wife Debbie; sisters-in-law Janice Ashbrook Clay and Loretta Ashbrook; as well as many nieces and nephews.Pallbearers are Butch Hibbard, Earl Frost, Glen Frost, Paul Frost, Thomas Hennington, and Andy Varino who are accompanied by their wives. These couples are more than friends. They are part of our family.
