Funeral services for Mr. John Louis Stimac, age 79, will be held at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, October 12, 2011, in the Worship Center at First Baptist Church of West Monroe. Officiating will be Dr. Dwight Munn and Rev. Mark Fenn. Interment will follow at Hasley Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Homes of West Monroe. John L. was born in Leesville, LA on November 6, 1931, and passed away at his residence in West Monroe, LA surrounded by his loving family, on October 9, 2011. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Landon Slavant; parents, Della and John Stimac; and a brother, Joe Stimac. Survivors include his beloved wife, Betty Thrower Stimac; daughters, Tammy Slavant, Lisa Crawford and her husband, Richard, Janet Hollis and her husband, Gary; granddaughters, Lauren Slavant Belcher and her husband, Trey, Cara Crawford and Claire Hollis; grandsons, Lee Crawford, Tyler Crawford, Cody Hollis and Connor Hollis; great granddaughter, Lily Crawford; and a brother, Charles Stimac. John L.≠s life exemplified his love of our Lord, love for family and love for others. He was a true servant at heart, always willing to help wherever there was a need. As a husband, father and grandfather, he lived his life as an honorable man of integrity. John L. was a devoted member of First Baptist Church of West Monroe where he was a Lifetime deacon and usher for many years. He was also associated with Gideon's International. John L. graduated from Louisiana Tech University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. After 35 years of service, he retired from Riverwood International. He was also affiliated with the Louisiana Professional Engineering Society. John L. served his country in the United States Army. Pallbearers will be Trey Belcher, Lee Crawford, Tyler Crawford, Cody Hollis, Connor Hollis, Mike Allen, Jerry Futch and Vernon Guy. Honorary pallbearers will be the Smith/Frazier Life Group. Visitation will be Tuesday, October 11, 2011, from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Kilpatrick Funeral Homes of West Monroe. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Louisiana Baptist Children's Home or to the donor's choice.
