A memorial service for Mrs. Gracie Imogene Jean Austin, 75, of Choudrant will be held at 11 AM on Friday, June 22 at Douglas United Methodist Church. Rev. Brad Jones and Rev. Jeremy Jones will officiate. Visitation will be Friday from 9:30-11 AM at the church.Jean was born in Ruston on January 24, 1943 to parents Gracie Goodwin and Frank L. Mitchell. She passed away on Sunday, June 17, 2018 after a lengthy illness. Jean was a graduate of Ruston High School, a member of Mineral Springs Baptist Church, and worked as an optician. Her hobbies included cooking, fishing, and spending time with friends and family at the lake house.Jean was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband of 45 years, Mark D. Austin. Left to cherish her memory are her children: Debbie Austin Williamson (Keith) and Danny Mark Austin (Suzette); grand children: Mike Bradshaw (Choudrant), Taylor Danielle Williamson (Lafayette, LA), Mitchell Lee Austin (Choudrant), and Mallory Austin Bryant and husband, Brandon (Choudrant); great grandchildren: Hunter Scott Bradshaw and Austin Michael Bradshaw; brothers: Donald M. Mitchell (Houston, TX) and Jerry Wayne Mitchell (Ruston); sisters-in-law: Celeste (Pete) Franklin and Celia Glass, both of Ruston; and numerous nieces, nephews, and close friends.
