He enlisted on September 30, 1861 at Camp Moore, Louisiana. His name appeared on a list of hospital admissions, 1st Mississippi CSA Hospital, Jackson, Mississippi on March 20, 1862, for debility. A hospital discharge date was not immediately available. He re-enlisted on May 23, 1862 at Edwards Depot, Mississippi. His name appeared on Roll as a Prisoner of War upon capitulation at Vicksburg, Mississippi on July 4, 1863. His name again appeared on Roll as a Prisoner of War upon the army's surrender in New Orleans, Louisiana, on May 26, 1865. He was paroled at Natchitoches, Louisiana on June 14, 1865.
