daughter of Capt John Jackson "J J" Stubbs who served in the 39th Mississippi Infantry during the Civil War.

At some time Capt Stubbs, who was born in Mississippi went to Texas after the war. In 1880 US census, Bossier parish, LA, he is found with wife Martty Stubbs b abt 1848 TX and two children: Maggie b 1878 TX and Georgie b 1879 TX. By 1880 he is in Louisiana where he and Ellas' graves are. Ella, who's birthdate is 1883 was probably born in Louisiana.

The Stubbs cemetery in Bossier parish, Louisiana is located off the Mott Oil Field Rd a few miles south of Boggs Cemetery off Goodman Springs Rd. It consists of two granite headstones that sit on the side of the dirt road at the edge of a wooded area. The graves are of J J Stubbs (1832-1900) and his child daughter Ella Stubbs (1883-1891)
