William Beauchamp enlisted March 8, 1862 at Homer, Louisiana. On August 25, 1863, he was reported as sick at the CSA General Hospital, Charlottesville, Virginia with Febris Typhoid. On September 21, 1863, he was transferred to the hospital at Lynchburg, Virginia. He was captured on November 7, 1863 at Rappahannock Station, Virginia. As a Prisoner of War, he was transferred to Point Lookout, Maryland and then later exchanged on March 10, 1864. His name appeared on the Company Muster Roll for May 1-August 31, 1864 as absent without leave since April 20, 1864. In May 1864, his name appeared on record as a deserter from the Trans Mississippi Department.
