He enlisted on March 4, 1862 at Lumpkin, Georgia. Company Muster Rolls list him as sick on furlough June 20, 1862 through August 1, 1862 under the Surgeon's Certificate. Company Muster Roll for November-December 1863 listed him as a teamster at the ordnance depot. His name later appeared in the Company Muster Roll as absent without leave since October 1864. Upon the CSA surrender on April 26, 1865, he was listed as absent without leave.
