John Rodgers Enlisted April 28, 1862, in Monroe, Louisiana. His name appeared on the Company Muster Roll for September - December 31, 1862 as in the hospital because he was wounded before Richmond, Virginia; he was present for duty on the January - February 1863 Company Muster Roll. His name appeared on a Roll of Prisoners of War at Ft McHenry, Maryland, after his capture at Gettysburg on July 3, 1863. On July 7, 1863, he was sent to Ft Delaware, paroled on July 30, 1863, and exchanged on July 31, 1863. His name later appeared on a list of casualties of Ewell's Corps in the Battle of Paynes' Farm and operations on Mine Run, Virginia November 27 - 28, 1863. The list showed him to be severely wounded. The Company Muster Roll for May 1 - October 1864 reported him as wounded on November 27, 1863 and in a hospital at Eufaula, Alabama. The roll further showed he was wounded in the left groin at Paynes' Farm. On April 26, 1864, his name appeared on a list from the Medical Director's Office, Richmond, Virginia, as permanently disabled due to a wound to the left groin and fractured pubic bone. On June 23, 1865, he was admitted to Sedgwick USA General Hospital for the gunshot wound to the left groin.
