Mary Lois Abney Lawrence, 81 of Vivian, LA passed away Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at her home. Funeral services will be held at 10 am on Saturday, February 9, 2013 at Gorsulowsky Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Rev. Jason Frazier. Burial will follow at Vivian Cemetery. There will be a time of visitation from 6-8 pm on Friday the 8th at the funeral home. Mary was born February 8, 1931 in Foreman, AR. After marrying Cooter Lawrence July 29, 1950 they lived in Waldo, AR and moved to Vivian in 1950. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Vivian where she sang in the choir. She was a Pink Lady at NC Medical Center, she was a member of the Homemakers Club and she was a den mother for cub scouts. She worked at the Summerville Manufacturing co. in Vivian and she retired from the Vivian water department where she worked as a clerk. She loved to sew including crocheting and she loved to decorate cakes. She loved to read and work in her garden and with her flowers. She loved her family and especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. And most important she loved her Lord. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, J.S. Cooter Lawrence, her daughter Patricia Lynn Lawrence and her brother Tom Abney. She is survived by her 4 children; Ronnie Lawrence of Shreveport, LA, Allen Lawrence of Stonewall, LA, Nina Miller of Sherwood, AR and Beverly Clements and husband Sam of Hosston, LA, her 7 grandchildren; Misty, Tommy, Chris, Samantha, Laura, Dayton Sonny , and Renee, 11 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild, her 6 sisters; Wanda Williams, Yvonne Simmons, Ailene Duley, Cherry Abney, Linda McNew and Margey Ysasi and her 3 brothers; James, Roy and Glen Abney. Pallbearers will be Alan Buckliew, Dr. Stephen Taylor, Jimmy Woods, Lucas Hale, Robert Geal and Calvin Thomas. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Emmanuel Baptist Church Building Fund, Renesting.org or to the Pink Ladys at NC Medical Center.
