Susan Irene Garland of Minden, Louisiana passed away September 27, 2018 and is at peace after a very hard-fought battle against multiple challenges. She was born July 22, 1946 in Burlington, Iowa and was the daughter of the late Frederick and Ruth Condon.

In addition to her parents, Sue was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 40 plus years, James Milton Garland, whom she is surely overjoyed to again see.

Sue is survived by her children; Robert (Kathleen) Garland of Atlanta, Amy (Bart) Angel of North Little Rock, Jim Bob (Holly) Garland of Dallas; and by her four grandchildren whom she dearly loved—Matthew and Kaitlyn Garland, Eli Angel, and Grant Garland.

She is also survived by her siblings, Jim (Kathy) Condon of Benton, LA, Dan Condon of Shreveport, LA, and Michelle Marano of Coral Springs, FL. Other survivors include her in-laws, Tom and Sharon Garland of Minden, LA and a host of nieces and nephews. And by her Westie, Woodrow.

While raising a family, Sue continued her education, earning her undergraduate, magna cum laude, and a master’s degrees in Education. Sue taught elementary school in Minden with 4th grade being her favorite to teach and proudly retired a National Board-Certified Teacher in 2011.

Sue was a teacher, a seamstress, a sports and 4-H Mom, and also an excellent cook. Her greatest pleasure was being surrounded by her family. She was a member of Pine Grove Methodist Church.

Sue’s children would like to thank Tom and Sharon Garland; Randy, Mitzi, Kendall & Sara Thomas; their extended family; Sue’s church family at Pine Grove; and the staff at Arkansas Hospice for the love and care shown to her over the past several years.
