Dempsey M. Allen, age 90, passed away on May 31, 2010 at his residence in Bogalusa, LA.

He was 1996 Citizen of the Year, He was involved with scouting and later with the local Explorer program for 52 years. He was Awarded the Silver Beaver Award which is the highest form of recognition that can be given by a local council for volunteer service to youth. Explorer Post 313 Leader. Lions Club member for 38 years, Offices held was Past President 3 times and Deputy District Governor. Governor of Moose Lodge 2 times. President of Conservation League 6 times. First LA State Boxing Commissioner. Member of American Legion Post #24. Member of the VFW. Veteran of WWII. Member of First Baptist Church.

He is survived by 2 Daughters, Lorna (Edward) DeCoursey and Julie (Eddie) Benard of Bogalusa, LA;

1 Son, Sidney (Dawn) Allen of Bogalusa, LA;

9 Grandchildren and 13 Great-Grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by His Wife, Irene A. Allen;

1 Sister, Sydney Hayden.

Active Pallbearers will be, Brian Mizell, Chris Lloyd, Chris Ingram, Scott Swilley, Eddie Lumpkin and Farrell Martin.

Visitation will be held at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home 5:30 P.M. - 9:00 P.M. on Thursday, June 3, 2010.

Visitation will continue at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home Chapel at 9:00 a.m. until the Funeral Services at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Bob Adams to officiate and Interment to follow at Pounds Cemetery with Military Graveside Services by the Magic City American Legion Post #24 on Friday, June 4, 2010.

INTERMENT: Pounds Cemetery

She was in the ATS Auxillary Territorial Service attched to the Royal Artillery in London, England,during World War II in 1942, she was assigned to drive a search light truck to see approaching German planes who were bombing London.
