Benjamin "Marty" Lamar Sandifer, Jr, 58, passed away Saturday, March 20, 2010 at his residence in Bogalusa. A native of Washington Parish, he was a member of Superior Avenue Baptist Church. He served in the US Army 101st Airborne Division, completing two tours in Vietnam. He worked in sales at the Ace Hardware store in Bogalusa for many years, and was a devoted husband, a loving father and a dear friend to all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Patty McGehee Sandifer of Bogalusa; sons Daymon (Krystal) Sandifer and Benjamin "Boo" Sandifer III, both of Bogalusa, and Derrick (Lindsey) Sandifer of Hernando, Mississippi, sister, Sue S. (Don) Williams of Bogalusa; grandchildren: Scout, Sawyer, Macon, McKenzie and McKade Sandifer; two nieces and three nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin L. and Lois Seal Sandifer.

Visitation was held at Brown-McGehee Funeral Home on Sunday, March 21 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., and continued on Monday from 8 a.m. until time for the funeral service at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel, with Rev. Josh Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Ponemah Cemetery, with military honors conducted by Magic City Post 24 of the American Legion.

Bill Nielsen, Kevin Nielsen, Rodney Thomas, Abe Abrams, Barry Manuel and Jack Brister are active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Scout Sandifer, Brad Williams and Brian McGehee.
