April 8, 1942 - January 2, 2004
Benjamin Ray Light,Sr, 62, died Friday, January 2, 2004 at his home in Bogalusa, Louisiana. He was a native of Arkansas, former resident of Clarksville, Arkansas and had been a resident of Bogalusa, Louisiana for the past 18 years. While residing in Clarksville, Arkansas he was involved in numerous organizations. He was an active member of the Clarksville Jaycees, served on the Clarksville City Council, held state offices with the Arkansas Hospital Association and served Johnson County Hospital as its administrator through the 1970's and early 1980's. Among his local accomplishments was the construction of the present Johnson Regional Medical Center facility which under his direction was planned, built and completed in 1975. He was also instrumental in the construction of the Clarksville Municipal Building while serving on the City Council. He was preceded in death by his wife Cecilia Anne Strougal Light and his parents Cecil and Muriel Taylor Light. Survivors include sons Benjamin Light, Jr, John Light and Tim Light, all of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and Quinton Light of Hawaii; daughter Cecilia Light of Chicago, Illinois; grand- sons Benjamin Cory Light and Taylor Andrew Johnston; brothers, Bill Light and Larry Light of Arkansas and Laddy Light of Kansas; sisters Jean Wood and Marilyn Archer of Arkansas; and caretakers Sarah and Scott Davis.
