HAUGHTON, LA - Gladys Marie Layfield, 83, passed away after a lengthy illness, on Sunday, June 20, 2010. A celebration of life service will be held Wednesday, June 23, 2010, at 2:00 pm at Christ the King Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Hill Crest Memorial Park, in Haughton, LA. Reverend Charles Glorioso will be officiating the service. The family will be receiving friends on Tuesday, June 22, 2010 from 5:00 until 7:00 pm, and a Vigil service will be held at 7:00 pm.
Gladys was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother. She loved to cook and play bingo. Gladys was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary Post 5951, and worked as a nurse for over 30 years. She was a faithful member of Christ the King Catholic Church and loved the Lord.
Gladys is preceded in death by her: husband, Harvey Layfield, parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Ezernack, son, David Layfield, and grandchildren Tammy and Dewayne Ebarb. She is survived by her daughter, Helen Meshell and husband Richard, son Wayne Ebarb and wife Judy, daughter Brenda Lee and husband Leroy, son Robert Layfield and wife Barbara, and daughter-in-law Lori Layfield, half-sister, Thelma Ezernack, 13 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Byron Trust, Joe Ferguson, Gerald Ezernack, Buck Sepulvado, Jeff Sepulvado, and R.L. Meshell.
