Franklinton----Bunyan Bates, 75, a resident of Franklinton, died Sunday at Washington--St. Tammany Regional Medical Center.
He was born February 27, 1922 in Gillsburg, MS, the son of the late Walter Jerome and Susie Lindsey Bates.
He was a laborer at a sawmill and a veteran of Wold War II, serving in the United States Army and being awarded the Purple Heart and the Gold Star Medals.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Fordia Smith Bates, and three sons, Bunyan Eugene Bates, William Howard Bates, and Roy Bates.
