Karl Hampton Burris, 84, born Feb. 2, 1927, passed away Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at 8 a.m. at Good Samaritan Nursing Home after suffering an accident in New Orleans on Jan. 15. A resident of Franklinton, he worked for Washington-St. Tammany Electric Co-Op for 40 years and was a U. S. Navy Veteran of WWII. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion and a long-time member of First Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Versie Hodges Burris of Franklinton; a son, Karl Hampton Burris II of Franklinton; two daughters: Debra Lynn Burris and Stanley Caron of New Orleans, and Marianna (Donald) Jenkins of Franklinton; four grandchildren: Hunter Fontenot, Jordan Burris, Samantha Weil and Simon Weil; a brother, Walter Allen (Sue) Burris of Franklinton; a sister, Mary Burris Crain of Pine, and a sister-in-law, Jeanne Knight Burris of Franklinton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter A. and Electa Sylvest Burris, and a brother, Kenneth Burris.
Visitation was Thursday, May 12 at Crain Funeral Home from 9 a.m. until time for the funeral service at 11 a.m. in the chapel, with Rev. Paul Watts officiating. Burial followed in Ellis Cemetery.

VERSIE HODGES BURRIS, AGE 83
and a resident of Franklinton passed away early Friday September 14, 2012 at Ochsner Extended Care Hospital in Kenner, after a several month illness. She was born June 9, 1929 and was a lifelong resident of Washington Parish. Mrs. Burris was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Franklinton.
Survived by:
2 Daughters and Sons in law: Debra Burris and Stan Caron, Marianna and Donald Jenkins
Son: Hamp Burris
4 Grandchildren: Samantha and Joe Garner, Simon Weil, Hunter Fontenot, Jordan Burris
Sister: Vergie Foxworth
Sisters in law: Jeanne Knight Burris, Mary Burris Crain
Brother in law and Sister in law: Walter Allen and Sue Burris
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 60 years, Hampton Burris, her parents Aletha and Ephraim Hodges, 3 sisters Hezzie McElveen, Wilma McCain, and Delia Payne, and 2 brothers Owen Hodges and Wilbur Hodges.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 11 am Monday September 17th at Ellis Cemetery with Rev. Paul Watts officiating.
