Mrs. Alma Lee Charles died Monday in a Shreveport, La. hospital following a brief illness. Mrs. Charles was born May 8, 1908 and was the daughter of Sam and Lee Anna Cobb Ford. Her survivors include her husband, Otis Charles, Lockhart, La.; five sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Hill, Lockhart, Mrs. Ellouise Smith, Flint, Mich., Mrs. Lillie Mae Criss, Kansas City, Mo., Mrs. Gertie Snowden, Berkeley, Calif., Mrs. Florence Phillips, San Francisco; and one brother, K. C. Ford, El Dorado; one uncle, Nath Ford, El Dorado. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Caledonia Baptist Church, Rev. H. G. Goodwin officiating. Burial will be in New Hope Cemetery in Lockhart, under the direction of Andrews Funeral Home. The body will lie in state at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Lockhart from 10:30 a.m. until 1:15 p.m. Saturday. (El Dorado Times - December 7, 1968)
