Funeral services for Funeral services for Dorothy Halley Gilmore, 77, of Sterlington, LA, will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, December 14, 2013 at First Baptist Church of Sterlington with Rev. J.E. Brown officiating. Interment will follow in the Antioch Church Cemetery in Farmerville, LA.
Dorothy was born on September 3, 1936 and passed away on December 11, 2013. She was a very gracious, loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. Dorothy was the portrait of a true lady who selflessly put the needs of others above herself.
Dorothy was a member of First Baptist Church in Sterlington and loved the Lord with all her heart. She loved her Joy Sunday School Class and each member and was the current Sunday School Director. She held many other positions in the church over the years. She is preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Flossie Halley; brothers, Bill Halley, Tony Halley, Mickey Halley, J.D. Halley; sisters, Claudie Rutherford and Laynette Knight.
Survivors include her beloved husband of 57 years, Tommy Gilmore; daughter, Kim Stroud and husband, Jack and their children, Adam, Hallie and Heather; son, Randy Gilmore and his children, Randon, Tyler, and Beau; great grandchildren, Jake, Anna Kay, and Ella. ( All of her grandchildren called her Dorothy Faye); sisters, Mollie Sutton, Nell Whitt and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Mike Sutton, Marty Sutton, John Sutton, Randon Gilmore, Tyler Gilmore, and Beau Gilmore. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Deacons of First Baptist Church of Sterlington.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Friday, at First Baptist Church of Sterlington.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to First Baptist Church Sterlington Flower Fund or the St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
