Mrs Byrd graduated from Bolton High School. She earned her undergraduate degree from Louisiana College and her Master's degree from NLU in Monroe. She began teaching in Vernon Parish and ended a 32-year teaching career at Lee Junior High in 1974. She was active in First Methodist Church, DAR, Colonial Dames, DeNova Club, Kappa Kappa Iota and Monroe Garden Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, Zachariah J Byrd; and her parents, Oscar Douglas Brasher and Anabel Faulk Brasher.She was survived by 1 son, Douglas Byrd of Pineville; 1 daughter, Frances Graves of Spring, Texas; 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
