Donald Delos Quin, 92, died at his home in the Bonner Creek community last Friday. He was a faithful and dedicated leader in Bonner Creek Baptist Church. He served as chairman of the board of deacons, Sunday school superintendent, chairman of upkeep of buildings and grounds and various other committees. The church fellowship was built by his plans and under his leadership. He maintained Bonner Creek Cemetery.

One of his fellow deacons described him as a dedicated Christian, always ready to be of service to God and his fellow man. He was proud to have been a Mason for more than 60 years. His civic duties included many years of volunteer work at the Mile Branch settlement. He will be remembered by many as a building contractor building many houses in Washington Parish and surrounding areas.
He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Sue and Leo Macias of Franklinton; two grandchildren, Dr. Dewitt and Mary Bateman, Jr. an Angela and Dr. Thomas Heigle, all of Baton Rouge; six great grandchildren, Zachary, Emily, Jonathan and Benjamin Bateman and Sarah and Christopher Heigle, all of Baton Rouge; a sister, Jessie Quin Selma of Watson; and two brothers, James Quin of Bogalusa and Max Quin of Denham Springs.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Bessie Thomas Quin; his parents, Frank and Lela Welch Quin; two brothers, Jack Quin and Frank Quin; and two sisters, Nell Quin Magee and Gladys Quin McClendon.

Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home today from 6-9 p.m., with a Masonic service at 7 p.m. Visitation continues tomorrow after 9 a.m. at Bonner Creek Baptist Church until time for the funeral at 11 a.m. at the church with Rev. Floyd Cheek and Dr. Gene Richards officiating.

Burial will follow in Bonner Creek Cemetery.

Bessie Thomas Quin, 90, a resident of the Bonner Creek community died Wednesday at her residence. She was born Jan. 24, 1912, in Washington Parish, the third of six children born to Andrew and Ettie Louise Pittman Thomas. Her life was spent in Washington Parish as a homemaker and an active member of the Bonner Creek Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years Donald Quin of Franklinton; daughter and son-in-law Sue and Leo Macius of Franklinton; one grandson and his family, Dr. and Mrs. Dewitt Bateman and Emily, Jonathan, and Benjamin Bateman, all of Zachary; one granddaughter and family, Angela and Dr. Thomas Heigle and Sarah and Christopher Heigle, all of Baton Rouge; a sister-in-law, Gertrude Thomas of Franklinton; and six nieces, Rosetta Byrd and Raylene Perry both of Franklinton; Betty Crockett of Folsom; Bersil Beard of Columbia, MS; and Edith Creel of Clinton; and numerous great nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by three sisters Murlie T. Sandifer, Ollie T. Jenkins, Melissa Thomas and two brothers Ray I. Thomas and Andrew Thomas, Jr.

Visitation will be at Bonner Creek Baptist Church after 10 a.m. tomorrow until the service at 2 p.m. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Crain Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
